Frequently asked questions.
If your question isn't here, please get in touch. You can also see how it works or check the pricing.
How does the plan know my budget?
When you sign up we ask a few quick questions: who you are feeding, your weekly food budget and any dietary needs.
From then on every plan we build aims to come in under that budget, using sensible UK supermarket prices for the ingredients.
Which UK supermarkets do you support?
The prices we show are estimates drawn from the big UK supermarkets, so think Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl style pricing.
The shopping list itself works wherever you shop. Take it to your local Co-op, Iceland or your weekly delivery slot, it doesn't mind.
Are the prices accurate?
They are reasonable estimates, not penny-perfect live prices. Supermarkets change prices day to day, so we aim for a sensible ballpark you can trust within a few pounds.
You'll see a running total before you shop, so there are no nasty surprises at the till.
Can I swap a meal I don't fancy?
Yes. Tap any meal you don't fancy and we'll suggest another one that fits the same budget and dietary needs.
The shopping list updates straight away so you don't end up buying ingredients for a dinner you've swapped out.
What dietary requirements do you support?
The common ones, in plain English. Vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, halal and a no-pork option.
You can tick more than one. We also let you list specific ingredients you simply don't want to see, like olives or aubergine.
Will it work for fussy kids?
Yes. Tell us roughly how old your children are and which foods are a hard no, and we'll keep plans family-friendly. Think pasta, mild curries, fish fingers, sausage traybakes, that sort of thing.
If a meal still flops with the kids, hit swap and pick a safer favourite. Over time it learns what your house actually eats.
How long does it take to make a plan?
About a minute. Tap "Make a new plan" on your dashboard and you'll have a full week of meals plus an aisle-grouped shopping list ready to take to the shops.
Can I make a monthly shopping list instead of a weekly one?
We're built around the weekly shop because fresh ingredients only stay good for so long and weekly budgets are easier to stick to. If you'd rather buy four weeks at a time, generate four back-to-back weekly plans and we'll keep your ingredients varied across them.
For the long-life cupboard staples that you do want to buy monthly (rice, pasta, tinned beans, toilet roll), the "Always need" list lets you tag them so they show on every list automatically.
Can my partner see the shopping list too?
Yes. Open your plan, tap Share, and send your partner the link. They can open it without making an account and tick items off the list while you're at the shops, in real time.
Both Free and Pro can share. The link lasts about a week, which covers a normal shopping trip.
Why do prices differ depending on where I live?
Because they really do. The same loaf of bread can cost 20% more in London than in Liverpool, at the same supermarket. We use your postcode to show prices that match your area, so the total on your plan is honest for you.
No postcode? You'll still see sensible national averages.
How do receipts work?
When you get home from the shop, take a photo of your till receipt and upload it on the Receipts page. We read every line and the prices on your future plans get more accurate, at your shop, in your area.
It works with Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi, Asda, Lidl and Morrisons receipts. Your receipts stay private to you.
Can I tell you what I already have in the cupboard?
Yes. The Pantry page lets you list staples you always have at home (olive oil, salt, rice) so we leave them off your shopping list. The opposite list, Always need, is for things you always have to buy (milk, bread, toilet roll) and we add them to every list automatically.
Can I put the app on my phone like a proper app?
Yes. On iPhone, open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and tap Install. It looks and feels like a proper app, with an icon on your home screen.
Once installed, you can read your shopping list in the shop even if you've got no signal.
Is my data safe?
Yes. We store your account on UK-friendly servers, we never sell your data, and we don't run ads. You can delete your account and your plans at any time from settings.
Your receipts and shopping habits stay private to you. We use them only to make your own future plans more accurate.
How is this different from just looking up recipes?
Recipe sites give you one dinner. We plan the whole week, balance the ingredients so nothing goes to waste, and write the single tidy shopping list for the lot, grouped by supermarket aisle.
The whole "plan the week, then write the list, then forget the list at home" job is the bit we take off your hands.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. One tap in settings cancels your Pro plan. You'll keep Pro features until the end of the period you've paid for, then quietly drop back to the Free plan. No phone calls, no retention dance.
What if I'm vegetarian, vegan or coeliac?
All three are supported. Tick vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free in settings and every plan from then on will stick to those rules.
For coeliac households we treat gluten-free as a strict filter, not a "mostly". If a recipe can't be made safely gluten-free, it won't appear in your plan.
