£50/week
Aldi meal plan, £50 a week (UK family of 4)
Aldi is hands-down the cheapest of the big UK supermarkets for a family weekly shop, but only if you know what to put in the trolley. This plan walks you through the whole week aisle by aisle, in the order you'd actually shop it.
All seven dinners, plus a few lunchbox-and-breakfast bits, for around £50. Prices below are typical of Aldi's own-brand range as of last month.
Total weekly shop: £49 to £53

good to know
A few tips
-
1
Aldi's layout is built to make you wander past the middle aisle of random stuff. Plan your list in supermarket order (fresh, frozen, ambient) and skip the impulse aisle entirely.
-
2
Their Specially Selected range is genuinely good for treat items (sausages, ice cream, biscuits) at less than half what a name brand costs at Tesco.
-
3
Pork shoulder is the cheapest cut of meat in the shop pound-for-pound. A 1kg joint feeds four with leftovers for a fiver.
